General anesthesia and sedation are used both for diagnosis and for surgical interventions of various durations. Propofol is the most popular, «safe», and controllable hypnotic anesthetic. However, the most well-known drug based on it contains soybean oil as an emulsifier/solubilizer. The soybean component creates favorable conditions for the development of microflora, which can lead to general infection in the patient. Based on long-term experience of using propofol as one of the main components of anesthesia, the domestic drug Anestofol C based on water-soluble form of propofol was tested in the VORC «Biocontrol». The drug has proven itself as an analogue of the original propofol-based medicaments, possessing all the properties of a hypnotic anesthetic.
