Abstract and keywords

Abstract (English):
An experimental comparison of the main methods of quantitative determination of total protein in such refractive media of the eyeball of cattle as the crystalline lens, vitreous body, intraocular fluid was carried out. The Bradford method shows the best results. It is characterized by high sensitivity, reproductivity and allows determining the total protein at its low content. The spectrophotometric method is inferior in selectivity and sensitivity to the Bradford method, but it can be used in the study of protein in the vitreous and intraocular fluid. The biuretic method is the least sensitive and can be used only in the study of total protein in the nuclear-free part of the lens, characterized by a high protein content comparable to its content in blood serum.
