Abstract (English):
Pyoderma in various manifestations is one of the most common problems in veterinary practice. Multiple studies on the treatment and prevention of pyoderma, combined with an alarming increase in the incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) infections, have led to a shift from previous recommendations for the use of systemic antibiotics to the use of topical therapy. Antiseptics are primarily used in the treatment of bacterial infections. The most common component is chlorhexidine, which is available in various dosage forms. Benzoyl peroxide, chlorine solution, ethyl lactate, and miconazole can also be used for treatment. For local lesions, local antibiotics are sometimes prescribed – gentamicin, fusidine, silver sulfadiazine.
