TOXICOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NEW INSECTOACARICIDAL DRUG FOR DOGS AND CATS FORSECTO®

Abstract (English):
This article presents the results of toxicological evaluation of the new veterinary drug Forsecto® based on AFI etofenprox and tebufenpyrad, which is intended to combat ixodid and sarcoptic ticks, fleas, lice and mosquitoes in dogs and cats. LD50 of Forsecto® when administered oral to rats was 640 mg/kg, which, according to hazard class III by GOST 12.1.007-76. Repeated cutaneous application of the drug in high doses does not cause significant changes in the clinical condition of white rats, its negative effect on the main physiological functions of the biological test system was not established, and pathomorphological changes were not registered. Evaluation of the ability of the drug to cause a state of hypersensitivity when administered to the body did not reveal any allergenic effect. Thus, the Forsecto® does not have pronounced toxic and allergenic properties, and is well tolerated by laboratory animals.
