This article presents the results of a study of the tolerability of a new medicinal product for veterinary use Forsecto®, which is intended to combat ixodid ticks, fleas, lice and mosquitoes in dogs and cats. A double therapeutic dose of the Forsecto® 60.0 mg/kg of etofenprox and 30.0 mg/kg of tebufenpyrad at the rate of 0.2 ml/1.0 kg of body weight, applied daily for 7 days to dogs cutaneously, does not have a local irritant effect, negative impact on the general condition, body weight dynamics, hematological parameters. With daily 7-day cutaneous application to dogs of a three-fold therapeutic dose of Forsecto® 90.0 mg/kg of etofenprox and 45.0 mg/kg of tebufenpyrad at the rate of 0.3 ml/1.0 kg of body weight, a tendency towards a decrease in body weight is observed, as well as fluctuations in some biochemical parameters that do not go beyond the reference range. No negative effect of this dose on the skin at the site of application or the clinical parameters of the animals (body temperature, pulse, respiration) was noted. 2X and 3X therapeutic doses of Forsecto® applied cutaneously to puppies for 7 days do not have a negative effect on the general condition of the animals, the dynamics of body weight, and do not significantly change the hematological parameters of the target animals. Thus, a 2X therapeutic dose of Forsecto®, when applied daily to the skin of dogs and puppies for 7 days, is not effective (safe), and a 3X therapeutic dose used for 7 days is a threshold dose. The results obtained confirm the safety of using Forsecto® in dogs and puppies in the recommended dosage regimen.
