EFFICACY OF THE DRUG FORSECTO® IN ECTOPARASITOSIS OF CATS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
This study evaluates the efficacy of Forsecto® - the topical veterinary preparation for the treatment and prevention of infestations by ixodid ticks, fleas, and chewing lice, as well as protection against blood-feeding mosquitoes in cats. Forsecto® demonstrated 100% efficacy against spontaneous ixodid tick infestations for 35 days following a single application, with complete elimination of ticks observed within 24 hours post-treatment. Similarly, Forsecto® achieved 100% efficacy against spontaneous flea and chewing lice infestations for 49 days post-treatment, with 100% flea mortality recorded within 24 hours and chewing lice mortality within 7 days. The preparation exhibited a pronounced knockdown effect, occurring within 2.93…4.69 minutes after ixodid ticks contacted the treated animal’s coat, persisting for at least 21 days. Additionally, Forsecto® displayed repellent activity against blood-feeding mosquitoes (Aedes spp., Culex spp.), which was maintained for at least 10 days. No adverse reactions were observed in the clinical condition of treated animals during the study period.
